We’ve had A LOT of work take place in the last few days. It is such a good feeling to see things finally coming together. I thought I was prepared for things to take longer than I expected, but it has definitely been tougher than I imagined it would be.
A few months into our renovation things basically to ground. to. a. halt. I avoided the place all together for a several weeks because I just couldn’t bring myself to go look at the same wood studs… again… and see that we still weren’t ready for inspection.
Waiting is hard for me.
So, in an effort to find the joy, I decided that the GREAT thing about having so many exposed walls around is that we had a unique opportunity to fill our home with verses and messages that represented our family and will surround us as long as we’re living there. Like a time capsule… except maybe not as exciting?

Most of the phrases were chosen to coordinate with the specific use of the room. The photo above is at our front door. I picked an Irish proverb that my husband really likes. “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sunshine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.”
Here are some of the other verses & phrases that we left around the house.

In the boys’ rooms we actually left several messages. I had quotes for each of them specifically, but we also ended up writing quick little love notes to both of them as well.
I also caught this really sweet photo our little guy with his Shesh. Love this so much! (No, that’s not her real name… just the one she ended up getting from us.)
And of course, also in our main living area, I had to leave a special nod to my fellow Pi Phis… arrow and all!
Definitely looking forward to 2017 and being able to finally move into this place!
