Coping with a LACK of #progressonparkford

We’ve had A LOT of work take place in the last few days. It is such a good feeling to see things finally coming together. I thought I was prepared for things to take longer than I expected, but it has definitely been tougher than I imagined it would be.

A few months into our renovation things basically to ground. to. a. halt. I avoided the place all together for a several weeks because I just couldn’t bring myself to go look at the same wood studs… again… and see that we still weren’t ready for inspection.

Waiting is hard for me. Continue reading “Coping with a LACK of #progressonparkford”

A Letter To My {White Male} Children Following The 2016 Election

Up until this year I have been fairly apathetic towards US politics. I believe that most politicians are generally more concerned about their personal self interests (and those of the corporations and rich constituents that support them) than what is best for the people that they are representing – regardless of the side of the aisle they stand on. Earlier this month, however, when I woke up and heard the final result of a painfully long election season- I cried. A Fresh Start #progressonparkford

Some time in 2015 my husband and I decided to refinance our house and get some money to do some minor updates to the place.  Our house was built around 1965, and while the previous owners had done some much needed wall paper removal, painting, floor refinishing, etc., and we had done a master bathroom remodel prior to moving in,  it still felt dated. When Enough was Finally Enough

Years ago I had a conversation with someone who was reminding me about the importance of taking care of myself. I’m not sure why, but I remember the details of this conversation vividly.

At the time, my response to her was probably pretty standard for many women, “I know. I just want to get through what’s on my to-do list right now and then I’ll take some time for myself.”

Her response to my poorly thought out plan has pretty much been playing on a constant loop every day since then. “But you’re always going to have a to-do list. When will enough finally be enough?” Sadly, the message didn’t quite sink in at the time. I left thinking, “yeah, BUT…”

Late last year I decided  that I had finally had enough.  It was finally time to commit   myself to a few life changes aimed at reducing  my overall stress levels. Money Saving Strategies for Disneyland

My little family took a trip to Disneyland a little while back. I hadn’t been there in well over 20 years.  Disney World seemed to somehow become the go-to Disney destination as I got older. It’s a great place, one that I hope to go back to some day since there are so many more park options than there used to be, but there is just something about the charm and character of the original park that I truly love.

In planning our trip, I was a little surprised by how many fewer reviews and recommendations are out there compared to Disney World. There are a few really great ones, but few and far between compared to its counterpart on the opposite coast. While we are still very new to the Disney vacation world, I thought I’d share a few of the tips and tricks that we picked up during our trip!
